Dog-friendly-route

Since October 2019, the village of Alba de Tormes has become dog friendly. This means that we can enjoy with our pet in certain monuments, hotels and restaurants.

The first place to visit, is the castle of the Duques de Alba, rebuilt by the I Duke of Alba, García Álvarez de Toledo y Carillo de Toledo, turned it into his private palace, consisting of six towers, of which currently only one remains standing, the Tower of the Homage.

We continue the visit, until the church of Santiago, in its interior is the museum of Pottery, is the church of the oldest town, of the first that had documentary news. It is located next to the Pilgrim's Hospital of Santiago.

Then, in the Plaza Mayor, we can see the church of the San Juan Apóstol, it is the most outstanding example of Romanesque-Mudejar. In addition, of great interest is both its architecture and the artistic pieces it houses, adding to the temple's own heritage.

Finally, we have the Archaeological Museum of Padre Belda, located in the convent of San Jerónimo This museum is dedicated to Prehistory, where we find geological, archaelogical and ethnographic pieces, (result of the interest of Padre Belda, founder of the museum) for science, and his participation in various archaeological campaigns.
