From chanfaina to hornazo and the sweets of Santa Teresa, the gastronomy of Alba de Tormes delights with flavors of roots and tradition
In Alba de Tormes there is an excellent range of bars, inns and restaurants where you can taste the typical Alban gastronomy, based on the region’s own products with which tasty, popular and natural dishes are prepared.
The typical dish of Alba gastronomy is the popular “chanfaina“, this dish is typical of the Alba fair (June 13) made with rice and lamb giblets.
Likewise, other typical dishes can be noted such as garlic soups with torreznos and ham tacos or white beans with chorizo and ear.
Also popular and delicious are Alba’s fried fish or pickled fish. Stewed or pickled stewed partridges compete with fish.
As for meats, the roast lamb, tostón or suckling pig stand out, as well as the local beef that is prepared roasted.
Another typical product is the traditional hornazo, made with wheat flour, loin and local sausages.
In desserts, the custard, flans and rice pudding can be highlighted, made in an artisanal way.
Finally, the Alban pastries have the typical sugared almonds, Santa Teresa yolks, meringues and at Christmas the delicious pine nut nougat
