Church of St. Peter

The Parish of San Pedro suffered a tremendous fire in 1512, almost completely destroying the building, with only the Gothic-style church doorway remaining.

It was rebuilt in 1577 thanks to the patronage of the House of Alba, by Don Fadrique Ɓlvarez de Toledo, 2nd Duke of Alba, which is why two of the ducal coats of arms can be seen on the faƧade.

The interior consists of a hall with three naves and a rectangular presbytery, a staircase leading up to the choir, and a lower choir loft covered with Gothic-style ribbed vaults.

It houses the carving of the Holy Christ of Health or Christ of Saint Jerome, crucified, with characteristics of German and Flemish sculpture from the late 15th and early 16th centuries.
