The Turrión

The Turrión, or Keep of the Castle of the Dukes of Alba, is an imposing 15th-century structure in Alba de Tormes, offering panoramic views and housing a museum about the history of the House of Alba lineage.

The wall’s enclosure has disappeared, although remains of the fortification works and the towers that marked the stretch still remain today, such as El Torreón or Turrión.

The wall had five gates and several small openings, which disappeared when the enclosure was demolished. Only a few of their names remain, such as Río, Campo, Salitre, Corredera, and Terreros.
